The City Council convened in a special session to hold a closed session regarding labor negotiations involving the City Clerk and the appointment of a City Manager. Upon reconvening in open session, it was reported that no reportable actions were taken on these items.

The City Council convened a closed session to discuss the public employee appointment for the position of City Manager and to conduct a conference with labor negotiators regarding the Professional and Confidential Group. No reportable actions were taken on either item during the meeting.

The City Council held a meeting to formally recognize and celebrate the retirement of a Maintenance Lead Worker in the Public Services Division, acknowledging his 30 years of dedicated service, contributions to citywide improvements, and commitment to the community.

The Planning Commission discussed and took action on several conditional use permits. One permit was for the operation of a massage establishment, addressing concerns about the number and proximity of such establishments in the city. The other permit was for a place of religious assembly, including discussions on hours of operation, parking, and potential impacts on the surrounding residential area and nearby school. The commission also discussed potential zoning amendments and matters from staff regarding upcoming legislation.

The council discussed various topics, including ordinances read by title only, public comments from the audience, and items on the commission/corporation consent calendar. A proclamation was presented to Captain Richard Shaw and for Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Month, as well as for Crime Prevention Month. The council also addressed a telephone system replacement, including entering agreements with Intelesys Communications Company and TelePacific. Additionally, they discussed the formation of a High-Speed Rail Working Group by the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments.
