Summit County Wildfire Council Meeting Minutes

The council received an update on the Community Wildfire Protection Plan update, which is currently in the assessment phase with a goal of completion by early 2027; attendees were requested to provide feedback on mapping and data. Additionally, the council reviewed the State Fire Assistance/Wildland Urban Interface (SFA-WUI) grant, identifying three specific wildfire reduction projects and approving a recommendation for the required cost-share match. Finally, a proposal was presented by Summit Fire & EMS to establish front-country recreation crews to assist with public education and outreach during peak visitor periods, which received no opposition.
