The meeting featured an introduction from the City Manager regarding the role and objectives of the committee, with discussions on project funding, policy implementation, and future priorities to be presented to the City Council. The committee expressed support for a community-led 'Swap, Don't Shop' event and coordinated volunteer staffing for an upcoming city tree lighting event. Informational updates were provided on a geothermal feasibility study, the operational status of the water treatment plant solar array, and various climate-related grant opportunities. Committee members also discussed potential future initiatives, including organics recycling, and agreed to establish actionable goals at the next meeting.

The committee discussed and approved a thank-you letter to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Organics Recycling Facility for their donation. Planning commenced for an upcoming presentation to the City Council, resulting in the formation of three subcommittees focused on community engagement, green spaces and land use, and climate action planning. The committee reached a decision to cancel the scheduled July meeting and members were advised to review and submit public comments regarding the Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Statement for the METRO Blue Line Extension project.

The meeting included recognitions for outgoing Council members and the Mayor, as well as several public hearings regarding license renewals for local businesses including a currency exchange, consignment and secondhand goods shops, and a pawn shop. Old business involved an appeal regarding a zoning code violation for a banner sign. New business focused on approving a municipal materials management agreement with Republic Services and authorizing the purchase of electric vehicle charging stations. Administrative reports and general communications included acknowledgments of service and updates on community projects.
