The board members reviewed multiple policies, including those related to school district records, goals, student board members, surplus property sales, emergency preparedness plans, threat assessment teams, instructional programs, virtual education programs, interscholastic activities, library materials, and internet use. Additional policies reviewed covered reporting student progress, personnel goals, compensation, employment of retirees, family and medical leave, discrimination/harassment of employees, substitute teachers, attendance, student discrimination, use of wireless communication devices, student wellness and student records. Changes to policies 1.700, 4.100, 4.406, and 4.601 were discussed for the First Reading.
The Anderson County Board of Education Workshop included a review of the financial report, a health insurance amendment, the 25-26 Student Handbook, 25-26 Code of Conduct Changes, 25-26 DHA Recommendations, ACHS Tennis Booster Club, Clinton FC Middle School Soccer Team Resolution, Headstart, CACFP Statement of Authority, 25-26 Recipient Contract for Delegate Agency, Recipient Self-Assessment, Delegate Self-Assessment, and Federal Programs Budget Approval. The board also discussed dates for the 2025-2026 board meetings and will vote on Thursday and agreed to move the Assurance of Legal Counsel to the Consent Agenda.
The meeting included the approval of the Clinton FD Middle School Soccer Team Resolution. The agenda and consent agenda were approved, covering items such as regular meeting minutes, human resources, student services, field trips, expenditure reports, sports, assurance of legal counsel, and a credit recovery report. Staffing updates for the upcoming school year were discussed, including new appointments for Chief Academic Officers. The board also discussed a proposal for remaining employees to be presented at the August BOE Meeting. The board approved changes to the code of conduct, the student handbook, DHA recommendations, the BOE meeting schedule, and Headstart-related items. Additionally, the approval of the Federal Programs Budget with the ability to make changes for FY 2026, and health insurance amendment.
The board reviewed the Financial Report and Internal School Funds Audit, noting minimal findings related to incorrect funding codes. Permission was requested for GOES and AES to install shade structures at no cost to the board, with AES also requesting a new Sped playground. An Executive Approval for a basketball score table purchase at ACHS was discussed. Additionally, CHS requested a donation for new band equipment, and LCMS sought permission for a full gym renovation at no cost to the board.
