The Board granted a real property tax abatement to the Avilton Community Association for the 2027 fiscal year. The Board also reviewed administrative matters, discussed and decreased the Garrett County Homestead Tax Credit Rate from 3% to 2%, and approved the 2026 Maryland Department of Transportation Priority Letter detailing various transportation infrastructure projects and funding requests throughout the county.

The meeting agenda includes a review of various reports, updates, and announcements. A primary action item involves the consideration of a Preliminary and Final Plat for the Wisp Resort PRD Nature's Run project, which proposes the development of 10 units in a Lake Residential 1 zoning district.

The board approved an appointment to the Ethics Commission and finalized Fiscal Year 2025 fund balance adjustments and budget amendments. Proclamations were issued for the National Day of Prayer, Arbor Day poster contest winners, and Water Safety Month. The board recognized the 25th anniversary of Iron Horse Logging, Inc. and reviewed funding applications for water and wastewater treatment plant improvements. Additionally, the board discussed projects for the Appalachian Regional Commission, including proposals for the Oakland Opportunity Hub, the 825 High Street Community Workforce & Innovation Center, and water and sewer line extensions along the US 219 corridor. The meeting involved the approval of a subdivision waiver request for a lot area variance. The commission discussed a proposed zoning ordinance amendment but reached no consensus, ultimately deciding to forward the request to the Board of Garrett County Commissioners without recommendation. Key agenda items included the approval of the annual transportation priorities letter, updates to the Water and Sewer Master Plan, and the election of commission officers.

The Commission addressed several planning and development items, including a subdivision ordinance waiver request for a flag lot, which was granted due to the pre-existing nature of the dwellings and the limited width of the access area. A request related to sensitive areas and steep slopes was withdrawn. The Commission also reviewed and approved a revised preliminary and final plat for a property reconfiguration, and granted approval for a 21-lot subdivision plat at Cathedral Springs. Finally, the Commission approved the final draft of the Comprehensive Plan and authorized it to be forwarded to the County Commissioners for final review.
