The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) outlines a sustainability initiative aimed at greening state parks and forests. This plan focuses on key areas including transitioning to a green vehicle fleet with a goal of converting 25% of passenger vehicles to electric or plug-in hybrids by 2025, expanding electric vehicle visitor charging stations, and significantly increasing renewable energy installations. A central objective is the DCNR 2030 Renewables Goal, which commits to producing or purchasing 100% of its electricity from renewable sources.

The council discussed geothermal development in Pennsylvania, including potential grant opportunities and the repurposing of abandoned oil and gas wells. Presentations were provided on Washington State's geothermal regulatory structure and the Philadelphia Water Department's combined sewer overflow mitigation strategies and programs. Committee reports included updates on legislative efforts, strategic issues, radiation protection, and solid waste advisory activities.
