Rutland Town Board of Listers Homestead Penalty Grievance Hearing
The Board of Listers conducted a hearing to review an appeal regarding an 8% penalty assessed on a late HS-122 filing. The appellant cited human error by a tax representative as the cause for the delay. The Board discussed the Town's penalty policy and regulations regarding filing deadlines. Ultimately, the Board denied the request for abatement, determining that the error was not the fault of the Town, but rather a professional oversight for which the applicant should seek recourse from their tax preparer.

Rutland Town Selectboard Highway Committee Meeting
The committee discussed the failure of the 4-foot diameter culvert located at the end of East Mountain View Drive. Potential solutions include the installation of a box culvert, similar to previous work conducted on Town Line Road, and the procurement of a permit for emergency temporary repairs. Additionally, the committee considered the necessity of engaging a contractor for the work and tasked an engineer to contact local firms regarding their interest in the project. The status of other ongoing projects was also reviewed, with no action required at this time.
