The document outlines research conducted in the Schmidt laboratory regarding the role of CaM Kinase Phosphatase in breast cancer cells. The presentation details experiments using MCF7 and MDA breast cancer cell lines to study the inhibition of this phosphatase via the compound ANDS, specifically measuring its effect on the phosphorylation of CaM Kinase 1 and its downstream protein, ERK. Results suggest that ANDS inhibits CaM Kinase Phosphatase, leading to increased activity in the investigated pathways, comparable to estrogen in certain cell lines. The study emphasizes the need for further research on non-cancerous cell lines to understand the compound's broader effects.
