The Sumter County Board of Commissioners held a work session meeting to discuss various topics. These included public hearings for zoning requests, appearances from One Sumter and Pineland Broadband, discussion of moving Sumter County Fire Rescue Station 6, a lease agreement with Phoebe Putney Health System for the Sumter County Emergency Operations Center, and approval to begin the abandonment process for a portion of Lamar Road. Additional discussions covered the 2022 LMIG Road List, a Letter of Intent with the Georgia Department of Human Services, solid waste proposals, an MDU Agreement for CATV and Mediacom Online Services, and advertising for proposals for a new metal roof and repairs for two buildings. The board also addressed Mediacom rate adjustments, a safety grant application, replacement vehicles for Fire & Rescue, the issuance of Solid Waste Bonds, the purchase of Chevy Tahoes for Fire & Rescue and the Board of Tax Assessors, replacement of an email Host Server, lease agreements for the District Attorney's Office, the Boys and Girls Club in Plains, GA, agreements with the National Park Service and BIS Digital, and agreements related to the Americus-Sumter County Airport Authority and intergovernmental agreements for water and sewer services and the conduct of city elections. The meeting also included discussion items such as board room upgrades and the county Facebook page, as well as reports from various departments and commissioners.

The meeting included discussions on various topics such as an intergovernmental agreement with the Georgia State Properties Commission, the Board of Commissioners' retreat date, a Georgia Forestry Services Agreement, a draft timber harvesting ordinance, and the disposal of surplus property. The board also discussed proposed legislation for setting compensation for Board of Elections members, advertising for bids for a specific parcel, ratifying a lease agreement with Phoebe Putney Health System for the Sumter County Emergency Operations Center, and a request from the land bank authority for the donation of parcels. Additional discussions covered property located at 321 South Jackson Street, an RFP for signage and landscaping for the Sumter County Courthouse, TSPLOST projects, and an intergovernmental agreement with Taylor County regarding a regional Board of Equalization. The agenda also included board appointments, a draft retreat agenda, and reports from various departments including EMA, Sheriff Office, Fire and Rescue, Parks and Recreation, IT, C.I., Zoning and Permits, Code Enforcement, Human Resources, Public Works, Extension Service, Gold Star EMS, and financial reports. An executive session was also scheduled.
