The board considered a variance request to permit residential development on a site previously used for waste disposal, which was restricted by local ordinance. The applicant argued that unique hardships existed, citing the timing of the ordinance notification and infrastructure work already in progress, and outlined mitigation plans to ensure safety. After deliberating on whether the applicant met the necessary legal criteria for a variance and considering the long-term implications of building on a former waste site, the board voted to deny the variance request.
