The commission also discussed administrative actions, including electing a chair and vice chair, and considering special meeting times and cancellations. They nominated and approved the current chair and vice chair to continue for another year.

The Arcata City Council meeting included a certificate of appreciation to Bob Fielder for his service on the Historic Landmarks Committee. A proclamation recognized March 8, 2020, as International Women's Day and honored the centennial year of women's suffrage. Another proclamation recognized February 25th, 2020, as Spay Day USA, encouraging community members to end pet overpopulation. The Economic Development Committee (EDC) presented its annual report, discussing the orientation of new members, review of city goals, and potential projects. The EDC also reviewed broadband policy, received presentations on the city’s strategic infill redevelopment plan, and discussed business licenses and vacation rental policies.

The study session of the Arcata Planning Commission focused on strategic infill redevelopment plan discussion. The commission discussed intensifying housing around transit hubs, aligning with the city's transportation goals. They also considered the economic impact of housing projects and the time it takes to get through the permitting process. The discussion included the need for densification in and around the downtown area, as well as the potential for mixed-use development in commercial areas.

The meeting covered general plan consistency for the disposition of 250 East Street, adopting resolution PC 1906. It also included a discussion on the housing element, with updates on the regional housing needs allocation, public engagement, and policy areas. The commission reviewed the current draft status and adequate sites, addressing the city's progress in meeting housing production goals and the challenges of providing housing for various income sectors.
