Parks And Recreation Committee Meeting
The Parks and Recreation Committee meeting involved adjusting the agenda to prioritize the Youth Commission update. Discussions focused on obtaining necessary input and answers from the mayor regarding eligibility confirmation for the Youth Commission to proceed with planned timelines, which will likely be delayed until the summer or fall to ensure full readiness, including developing promotional materials like a one-pager or flyer. The committee also began brainstorming activities for the Senior Commission, focusing heavily on the critical need for transportation solutions for any proposed trips, as seniors prioritize being fed and having reliable transport. Specific trip ideas included visits to the American Movie Theater, William Smith in Clayton, a lavender farm, Delaware Botanic Gardens, dinner theaters like Dutch Apple, and the Smyrna Opera House. The importance of safety measures, such as the Kent County EMS refrigerator card for medication information, was also discussed. Separately, details were shared about an upcoming event on April 25th involving music, food, and drinks at the clubhouse for $25 per person.
