The St. John City Council will hold a public hearing regarding the proposed 2026 City Budget. The budget includes anticipated revenues of $5,597,797 and anticipated expenditures of $5,849,447, resulting in an anticipated fund balance of $2,784,469 as of December 31, 2026.

The City Council meeting agenda includes a review of the minutes from the December 2, 2024, meeting; citizens' comments; reports from the City Manager/Public Works, Police Department, and Mayor; a finance report including the ratification of the November 2024 MER and total expenditures; an update on Marvin Gardens; discussion of the April 8th, 2025 elections; and consideration of several ordinances. Ordinance 1378 concerns amending the municipal code regarding landlord registration. Ordinance 1379 amends the fiscal year 2024 budget, and Ordinance 1380 makes appropriations for the 2025 calendar year.

The meeting will include a public hearing for the amended 2024 municipal budget and the proposed 2025 municipal budget. Third and final readings of Bill 1379 (amending Ordinance 1257 to reflect updated revenue and expenditure projections for fiscal year 2024) and Bill 1380 (making appropriations for the 2025 calendar year) will be conducted. The meeting will also cover citizens' comments, the city manager's report, the mayor's report, new business, and miscellaneous items.

The City Council meeting agenda includes the ratification of the December 2024 monthly expenditure report, totaling $487,020.22. Other agenda items cover new hires for Public Works Director and a Police Officer, updates on the Gateway Service Housing Project, amending vacant property registration, record retention, the Senior Utility Tax Program, an electronic recycling grant, curbside cleanup week, and two ordinances (Bill 1381 and Bill 1382). A resolution regarding a St. Louis Waste Reduction Grant is also on the agenda. The meeting will include a closed session to discuss legal, real estate, and personnel matters.
