The Board of Education conducted a workshop to discuss the measurement model for the district's 'moonshot' goal, which aims for all students to read on grade level by 2030. Key topics included the alignment of the strategic plan with accountability measures, the definition of foundational conditions such as staffing and attendance, the implementation of literacy strategies, and how to use data for continuous improvement. The board reviewed how interconnected layers of evidence—foundational conditions, implementation metrics, student progress, and summative outcomes—are used by school teams and district leadership to inform decision-making and improve student learning experiences.

Omaha Public Schools Board of Education Budget Hearing
The Board conducted public hearings regarding the proposed budgets and property tax requests. Key discussion topics included a significant reduction in state aid due to a calculation error, which resulted in a total loss of $50.6 million for the district. To address this funding gap, the Board proposed an increase in the combined property tax levy to maintain district operations and continue investments. The proposed budget includes a 1.18% increase, primarily allocated toward staff compensation and critical contractual obligations, while ensuring the district maintains appropriate financial reserves.
