This Language Access Review provides a comprehensive overview of current language access services within Prince William County and offers recommendations for operationalizing equitable and inclusive language services. The review acts as a roadmap for developing a system-wide Language Access Plan, emphasizing the establishment of a Language Access Program Manager, policy development for bilingual staff interpreters, creation of a comprehensive bilingual staff interpreters program, further vendor analysis, enhanced community engagement, consistent notification signage, improved demographic information collection for Limited English Proficiency individuals, and the integration of advanced technology resources. The overall objective is to ensure meaningful communication and equitable participation for LEP residents, business owners, and visitors across all County services and programs.

The board meeting agenda includes the presentation of the Superintendent's report regarding inmate population statistics and the status of fiscal year objectives, a one-year performance presentation, and a budget update concerning the purchase of duty weapons. Additionally, the meeting will feature the election of board members and an opportunity for member comments.

The commission held a work session to discuss an upcoming veteran's meet-up and the background and purpose of the veteran's docket. New business included a review of bylaws in preparation for commission role elections. During commissioner's time, members discussed future guest speakers, the establishment of a broadcast studio, veteran homelessness outreach and shelter support, legal updates regarding the Barring Act and combat-related special compensation, and the proposal to distribute a needs survey to veterans.

The board discussed and addressed several key agenda items, including the authorization of a closed meeting, a public facility review regarding the NOVEC Diamond Hill Substation in the Brentsville Magisterial District, a presentation on the Stepping Up Initiative, and an update on various county projects including community safety, infrastructure, and parking initiatives.

The Board of County Supervisors held a meeting primarily focused on the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. Key agenda items included public hearings on solid waste user fee rates, the authorization of a closed meeting, and the adoption of various tax levies, including real estate property, fire, and personal property tax levies. The Board also discussed amendments to the position classification and pay plan, the continuation of hiring incentives for hard-to-fill positions, and the adoption of stormwater management fees, land development application fees, and building development fees. Additionally, the Board addressed contributions to the operating surplus and the five-year capital improvement plan.
