The resolution supports participation in the Sustainable CT Municipal Certification Program. It designates a contact person to manage the certification process and establishes a Sustainability Team to focus on sustainability initiatives within East Haddam. The team will report annually to the Board of Selectmen on its progress.

The East Haddam Village Revitalization Committee (EHVRC) meeting focused on gathering public input on the best use of the town-owned 2.6-acre site formerly occupied by town offices. Discussion centered around soliciting proposals from commercial developers, with key considerations including the site's best use, evaluation criteria for development proposals, and how a revitalized village could best serve the town and its residents. Public comments covered a wide range of ideas, including a convenience store and gift shop, a family-oriented restaurant, a craft brewery, boutique shops, diverse restaurants, a hotel/spa, and the potential for a public-private partnership. Concerns were raised about maintaining the town's rural feel, preserving historical aspects, addressing parking and accessibility, and ensuring economic feasibility of any development. The committee plans to use the gathered input to inform the development of a Request for Proposals (RFP).

The meeting focused on climate resiliency efforts within the Suaker Brook Corridor. Discussions included reviewing data from the natural hazards mitigation plan, prioritizing actions from a list of 23 priority and 25 additional actions, and forming an advisory committee to address flooding issues. Specific topics included culvert and pipe repairs, engineering studies to mitigate flooding, and identifying funding for mitigation projects. The meeting also touched upon communication strategies, community involvement, and the importance of neighbor-to-neighbor assistance during emergencies.

The meeting focused on the Resilient CT Phase III project, which involves establishing a town advisory committee to conduct studies and develop cost analyses for mitigating flooding along the Succor Brook corridor. The strategic plan focuses on preserving the town's rural character, protecting its landscape, waters, and natural environment, and preparing for changing demographics by attracting and supporting diverse housing options. It aims to provide quality facilities for education, community, recreation, and emergency services, maintain a quality transportation system, and position East Haddam to grow its grand list to maintain the town's quality of life. The plan also encourages regional cooperation and partnerships to strengthen economic development efforts, emphasizing the importance of historic and cultural resources in shaping the town's identity and future.
