Alamo Heights Independent School District Special Called Board Meeting
The board meeting primarily focused on a controversial proposal to modify course multipliers used for calculating weighted GPAs for students. Multiple parents and community members addressed the board, expressing concerns about the fairness of changing these multipliers mid-cohort, potential disadvantages for students enrolled in dual credit or early college programs, and the lack of transparent communication regarding these changes. Speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining consistent grading standards, ensuring fundamental fairness for students who signed up for programs based on established expectations, and making data-driven decisions rather than acting on emotional appeals regarding the comparative rigor of AP versus dual credit courses.
