City Council Council Worksession
The City Council Worksession agenda included recognition of new hires across several departments: Fire Department (welcoming Colin and Dwight, both certified EMTs/firefighters), Police Department (introducing certified officer Joel Cardy and Dustin McNeel), and Public Works (welcoming Miss Bailey). The City Manager also introduced the new Assistant City Manager, Eric Clawson, detailing his extensive experience in public works from Springfield, Missouri, and prior roles in the Lowcountry. The session also featured strategic partner presentations, including a detailed overview of the South Carolina Nurse Retention Initiative, which focuses on recruiting and retaining nurses through financial incentives and currently faces a significant local nursing shortfall. Another presentation covered the efforts of the Pritchard's Island Research and Living Shorelines Coalition regarding ecosystem study, erosion, and pushing for National Estuary Program designation for the Carolina Bite area.
