Comox Valley Winter Shelter Strategy 2026-2030
This Winter Shelter Strategy for the Comox Valley aims to urgently address the critical need for winter sheltering services for over 130 unsheltered individuals. The plan outlines three main strategic areas: addressing immediate needs by securing additional temporary winter shelter sites and streamlining land use approvals; strengthening the system of services across the Valley by increasing the diversity of shelter options for specific populations and enhancing engagement with people with lived and living experience; and fostering lasting, systemic change through proactive land use planning and community involvement. The strategy seeks to improve coordination among stakeholders, reduce unsheltered homelessness, and mitigate weather-related harm.
