The Council discussed several administrative and financial items, including the status of the Genoa South Substation, grant funding for the local paving project, and the capital budget for the Civic Theatre Roof Project. The Mayor and Council engaged in a detailed discussion regarding potential economic development on State Route 163, specifically addressing resident concerns regarding the potential construction of a data center, including impacts on infrastructure, noise, light, water usage, and property values. Public input was received regarding these development plans. The Council also passed several ordinances, including those concerning property annexation, land use and buffer regulations, the establishment of a paving project fund, budget appropriations, and a tax levy.

The council discussed and approved repairs for a Vactor truck and authorized an engineering proposal for the OPWC Paving Project. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to public comments regarding a potential data center development, as well as resident concerns about emergency ordinances, sidewalk maintenance, tornado siren functionality, property disrepair, and traffic speed. Additionally, the council passed an ordinance establishing a cybersecurity policy as an emergency measure.

The council discussed various topics, including a report from the police chief on the number of calls responded to, the installation of a camera system for security, and the potential hiring of a part-time officer. They also discussed village properties for sale or exchange, EPA changes and mandates related to phosphorus level standards, and putting a park levy back on the ballot. Additionally, the council addressed financial matters such as bid notices for a CD and the establishment of funds for police department donations, unclaimed funds, and proceeds from forfeited moneys. An executive session was held to discuss the hiring of a village employee.

The meeting included discussions and reports from the Engineer, Administrator, and Fiscal Officer. The Finance Committee presented recommendations for reinvesting a maturing CD, which led to a motion to transfer the money to a 12-month CD with Genoa Bank. Council also approved donations to the American Legion Post for the Memorial Day ceremony and to the Historical Society for a bronze marker. Additionally, a donation was approved for the Homecoming fireworks. The council addressed a resident's question regarding stone parking in front of his house and passed ordinances related to a purchase contract with the Ottawa County Land Reutilization Corporation and an agreement for professional services with CT Consultants, Inc.

The meeting addressed several key areas, including discussions on collaborating with Clay Township to conserve resources, addressing bad meter reads, and reviewing cost estimates for Town Hall renovations, specifically focusing on the elevator, painting, flooring, and bell tower. The council also discussed a missing storm drain grate and the invoices paid at the end of 2017. They reviewed financial reports, closed out 2017, and prepared for the Police Levy submission. Additionally, the council agreed to continue researching the School House / GAR building and addressed concerns about a junk mobile home within the Village zoning area.
