The council workshop focused on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 tax rate and budget. Discussions included a review of tax rate calculations provided by the tax office, maintaining a tax rate of 40 cents per $100 of assessed value, and the impact of property tax revenue on the budget. The council discussed park improvements, health insurance plans and the benefits of remaining in the TML pool, travel and training allocations for council members, police department payroll and protective gear budget line items, and public works and court budgets. The session also covered transfers to debt service and provided an overview of the city's growth in utility accounts and overall budget since 2023.
