The virtual hearing focused on the topic of School Resource Officers and whether the program should be maintained or terminated. Numerous students and community members provided testimonies expressing concerns that the presence of police officers in schools disproportionately affects Black and Latino students, contributes to the school-to-prison pipeline, and negatively impacts the mental health of students. Testifiers advocated for the reallocation of funds from school policing to instead support more social workers, counselors, and mental health programs, emphasizing the need for a restorative justice approach to discipline.

The ceremony included the farewell of the 48th student member of the board and the swearing-in of the 49th student member. The incoming member delivered remarks on the importance of student advocacy, the student body's diverse stories, and the commitment to representing the interests of students across the educational institution. The outgoing member provided final reflections on the experiences and collaborative efforts throughout their tenure as a student member of the board.

The Board of Education held a retreat featuring a series of discussions and exercises focused on organizational and governance matters. Key agenda items included a team-building exercise for members, a session on the principles of effective governance, and a review of the 2026-2027 annual calendar. Additionally, staff provided a presentation regarding communications goals and objectives. The Board also formally resolved to conduct a closed session to discuss administrative matters, including operating and capital budget strategies.

Several informational reports were presented, covering construction progress, legal fees, and student attendance data.

The committee held a session to review its purpose, goals, and operational norms for participation. Key agenda items included a report on community engagement data regarding boundary studies and updates on engagement events held throughout the community. Staff presented the superintendent's recommendations and provided instruction on using interactive online tools to facilitate public input. The committee also discussed strategies to improve reach and engagement in the feedback process, and deferred the election of a Co-Chairperson to a future meeting.
