The Academic and Career Planning (ACP) program empowers students to take ownership of their future by providing the knowledge, resources, and experiences needed to make informed decisions. It prepares students for employment, promotes cooperation between business and industry and public schools, and establishes a role for public schools in the economic development. The district is committed to providing staff with opportunities to enhance their effectiveness as homeroom advisors through ongoing, self-driven professional development.

The strategic plan for Elk Mound Area School District focuses on student academic opportunities, staff development, family and community outreach, technology integration, and facilities improvement. Key outcomes include providing opportunities for students to explore learning, achieving individualized academic growth targets, aligning skills with career choices, and enhancing after-school enrichment. The plan also aims to ensure competitive staff compensation, improve communication with families, integrate technology to enhance learning, and complete facilities assessments for upgrades and improvements.
