The strategic vision for Flint Community Schools District aims to create an environment where every scholar can thrive, built upon four key themes. These themes include re-energizing pride by fostering belonging and enthusiasm, renovating plans through re-evaluating and enhancing educational strategies, rebuilding possibilities by creating new pathways for scholar success and building a new Career/Technology/Engineering high school, and repurposing resources for a sustainable and equitable educational environment. The plan emphasizes leveraging strengths, community involvement, and strategic partnerships to inspire excellence and foster growth for generations to come.

This Special Education Program Review for Flint Community Schools, conducted by the American Institutes for Research, examines the design and delivery of programs and services for students with disabilities as part of the Flint Water Crisis settlement agreement. The review identifies seven strengths and nine areas for improvement, leading to six key recommendations. These recommendations focus on strengthening family outreach, enhancing internal staff communication, refining procedural and policy guidance, promoting high-quality student support plans, establishing clear organizational staffing and role profiles, and revamping professional development offerings to support continuous improvement in special education services.

The meeting agenda includes a roll call, a public comment period, and a closed session to discuss matters related to attorney-client privilege.

The board participated in a workshop facilitated by MASB. The session focused on getting to know the board members, including their motivations for running for the board, their experiences as board members, and their perspectives on the challenges facing the school district. The participants discussed the district's impact, educational goals, and strategies to improve the school district's effectiveness.

This document outlines the Flint Community Schools' Safe Return and Recovery Plan for the 2020-2021 school year, developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The plan's vision is to ensure a safe reopening that protects the health and well-being of the school community, while upholding a commitment to academic excellence, transparent communication, and a whole child approach to education. Key guiding principles include prioritizing safety, leveraging data and public health guidance, engaging diverse stakeholders, promoting transparency, ensuring equity, and maintaining decisiveness and adaptability. The plan was developed through collaboration with various committees focused on wellness, instruction, postsecondary, technology, governance, communications, operations, and facilities, incorporating input from surveys.
