The board discussed a zoning application for properties on Michigan Avenue. The applicant requested variances from the Zoning Ordinance regarding rear yard setbacks, landscape buffer requirements adjacent to residential zoning, and the installation of a 6-foot-high wall within a front yard setback.

The commission discussed the placement of flags on veterans' graves for Memorial Day, concluding it fell outside their mission, and addressed matters regarding the Sheldon School.

The meeting included public hearings for a special land use request for a multi-tenant commercial building at the former Bowery site and a rezoning proposal from C-4 Interchange Service district to C-3 Regional Commercial district at the former Bob Evans site. Old business involved a site plan modification for a landscape project at Canton-Western Wayne. New business included a future land use map amendment for the Tri-City Assembly of God, a site plan approval for Phase III of the Autumn Ridge Apartments, and a temporary outdoor dining permit for Beyond Juicery and Eatery.

The committee discussed updates from the Cultural Commission, including the strategic plan and upcoming summer events, and received an update from the Parks, Recreation & Community Services department. New business included subcommittee reports on the Pheasant Run golf facility, noting increased revenue and the ongoing parking lot project, and a comprehensive update on the Summit facility improvements, covering renovations to the PDC room and banquet center, as well as future expansion plans for the gym and fitness areas. The committee also discussed a proposed name change to the Parks and Recreational Activities Committee and reviewed community feedback regarding recent event locations.

The agenda for the work session meeting included discussions on zoning ordinance text amendments regarding carwash establishments and data centers. Additionally, the commission planned to discuss an ordinance amendment concerning the keeping of chickens and the review of the annual tree report.
