City of Perrysburg Engineering Division

The City Council held a public hearing regarding a rezoning request for 940 Westbrook Drive to transfer it to RM zoning, which is multi-family residential. This property, along with 950 Westbrook Drive, currently contains multi-family apartment units. The request is to re-zone the property back to multi-family to match the current use. The council also discussed a similar request for 950 Westbrook Drive, which was also part of the 2007 rezoning and is intended to revert back to multi-family zoning. Additionally, they discussed a rezoning application for 941 Westbrook Drive, which has a multi-unit building on it and is currently a legal non-conforming property.

The committee discussed approving meeting minutes from November 23rd. They reviewed a proposed job description for a staff engineer and an HR coordinator, including the scope of the engineering department. They also discussed the restructuring of the law department and a request to look into passing legislation that all non-bargaining employees raises are reported to the personnel committee on an annual basis.

The committee discussed updates to the land use plan, focusing on the Perrysburg Heights area. A color-coded map was presented to address concerns from residents while aiming to establish a commercial corridor along State Route 25. The proposal included maintaining some access points, disconnecting others, and creating a collector road to avoid main road traffic. The location of a north-south blue road was strategically positioned based on existing corporate boundaries.

Discussion regarding a potential nominee, Matt Sutter, to the board of zoning appeals. A motion was made to adjourn to executive session to consider the appointment of a public official.

The meeting of the Perrysburg Service Committee included discussions on citizen concerns, approval of prior months' minutes, and the fall street and subdivision contract for tree planting. The committee discussed planting 211 trees, with the majority paid for by planters of new developments and some as replacement trees. Quotes for the trees were reviewed, with North Branch Nursery providing the most competitive price. The committee also discussed identifying trees for removal due to disease or safety concerns, and the possibility of creating an arborist position within the Public Service Department. Additional discussions covered the budget, including repairs and maintenance, pond erosion control, and the potential for a kayak launch at the park. The committee also reviewed the street division budget, including salary increases and equipment rentals.
