Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Manitoba

The Annual General Meeting covered highlights from the Annual Report including membership increases, decreased complaints, and the continuation of virtual operational procedures. Audited financial statements were presented, noting total assets of $12.7 million and a $1.2 million surplus from operations. Auditors for the following year were appointed. Significant bylaw amendments were confirmed regarding the retention period for Continuing Professional Development records, governance model alignment with the national Collaboration Accord, compensation for the First Vice-Chair, board composition changes, and updates to the role of the Secretary-Treasurer to ensure consistency with the CPA Act. Board members were also elected and retiring members were recognized for their contributions.

The Chair provided an overview of the organization's performance, highlighting pandemic-related challenges and the implementation of new student support programs. The Executive Director presented the financial statements for the fiscal year. The meeting included the appointment of external auditors for the upcoming fiscal year, the approval of several by-law amendments regarding meeting procedures and committee composition, and the election of the board of directors for the 2021/2022 term.

CPA Manitoba's 2023-2026 Strategic Plan outlines its strategic direction to ensure public trust and confidence in the CPA profession. The plan is structured around five core themes: Protect the Public (as the primary goal), Growth of the Profession, Value of the Profession, Member Learning & Experiences, and Organizational Excellence. These pillars aim to enhance the relevance and integrity of the profession, support members' development, and maintain operational efficiency.
