The Blount County Commission work session included discussions on the agenda, the fair, courthouse windows, solid waste board appointment, updating the 10-year Solid Waste Plan, PALS Cleanup month, Homeland Security Grant application, policy pertaining to the issuance of checks, upgrading county building cameras, awarding a sealed bid on a Cat backhoe loader, purchasing a compact excavator for the landfill, an agreement with the Blount County Historical Society, a lease agreement with Diversicare, extension of Estes Circle, surplus of old juvenile court audio equipment, surplus and sale of a transportation bus, paying Moving Blount County Forward balance, budget amendments, updates on the Multipurpose Center Project and the Blount Memorial Museum renovation project, the Courthouse Renovation project, Moving Blount County Forward Initiative, an ALDOT agreement for project NH-0053(592), Faulkner Road Bridge Replacement, and PALS Cleanup details.

The meeting included discussions on a 911 emergency dispatch service agreement, a resolution designating October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and a proclamation designating the week of September 15-21, 2024, as Alabama Extension Week. Further discussions covered a resolution regarding longevity bonus through CRS, a road vacation request by the City of Oneonta, an inmate medical contract, and an agreement with the Department of Youth Services. The commission also considered an agreement with Diversified Computer Services, donating a Sheriff's Office asset to the Blountsville Fire Department, and the surplus of a John Deere tractor and law library furniture. Appointments were considered for the Remlap-Pine Mountain Water Board, along with a budget increase for the Blount County Fair. Budget amendments, updates on construction projects, transfers of funds for ADEM Stormwater projects and CRAF funds, and a Bipartisan Infrastructure Planning Grant for a Bridge Replacement Project were also addressed.
