Blackford County

The Blackford County Commissioners convened an executive session held in accordance with Indiana Code 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(4).

The Commissioners reviewed several business items including approval of a grant proposal for Community Corrections and authorization for a sexual assault awareness exhibit at the courthouse. Financial approvals were granted for donations to the Hometown Days Festival and various road use agreements and resolutions with multiple wind and solar energy companies. Several maintenance and inspection agreements were approved, including those for courthouse clock maintenance, duct cleaning, and inspection fees for infrastructure projects. Departmental reports were received from Planning and Zoning regarding board vacancies and public comments were addressed concerning land use changes for wind and solar projects.

The Blackford County Commissioners and Council convened for a joint executive session conducted in accordance with Indiana Code 5-14-1.5-6.1(b)(4) to discuss confidential matters as permitted under the governing statute.

The council reviewed a salary study and road construction updates from the Highway Superintendent. The Economic Development Director provided reports on the READI 2.0 grant paperwork for the Newberry Building, an upcoming leadership workshop, the broadband project contract, and the status of the trail project. Additionally, the council received updates from the Commissioner regarding the LEPC meeting and discussions on blighted homes, reviewed the financial report for the County General fund, and noted current revenue and expenditure figures.

The Commissioners approved financial assistance for a local organization and the Montpelier Jamboree. The Auditor received authorization to add new credit cards for the Probation, Highway, and Court departments. The Highway Superintendent provided updates on roadway improvements for Lake Trout Solar and announced the Transfer Station operating schedule. The EMA Director presented a multi-hazard mitigation plan agreement and reported on debris management. Additionally, the Commissioners addressed public inquiries regarding potential regulations for carbon capture and solar energy, and approved various financial claims, including regular, miscellaneous, and payroll claims.
