Albany School District

The strategic plan for the Albany School District serves as a roadmap for continuous improvement, establishing the district's direction and ensuring alignment towards common goals. It is built upon five strategic pillars: Student Success, Staff Excellence, District Operations, Family and Community Engagement, and Safety. Guided by CARE values (Citizenship, Achievement, Respect, and Excellence), the plan aims to empower all students to reach their full potential, ensuring every child is prepared for life, and fostering a thriving, connected, and future-ready learning community.

The School Board adopted changes to previously approved budgeted amounts for the General Fund, Special Education Fund, Capital Projects Funds, and Food Service Fund. Adjustments were made to revenue and expenditure appropriations across these funds, including transfers, state aid, special project grants, and support services.

The meeting focused on discussions regarding a potential contract for a district administrator and the potential administrative structure. A contract was offered to Kurt Soderburg for the District Administrator position.

The meeting covered various topics including student council updates on post-prom activities and fundraising, FFA reports on donkey basketball and upcoming events, and a treasurer's report detailing fund balances and budget status. Administrative staff reports included updates on hiring, extended day programs, math scores, forensic team achievements, and school events like the PTO carnival and Easter egg hunt. Key decisions included approving coaching recommendations, professional and support staff compensation, staffing recommendations, and hiring/resignations. Future agenda items were discussed, including board reorganization, summer school updates, and budget amendments.

The agenda includes the Pledge of Allegiance, approval of the agenda and minutes, treasurer's report, citizens' requests, correspondence, acceptance of gifts, administrative staff reports, regular business (hiring, retirements, resignations, summer school program, early college credit, staff list, capital improvement plan, rekeying project, budget amendment, policy updates), board member committees, board member communication (future agenda items, meetings, and important dates), and adjournment to and from closed session.
