Transportation Services 2027-2032 for the Somers Public Schools

Description: The Somers Board of Education (the "Board") invites the submission of bids from qualified bus transportation companies for the furnishing of student transportation services for the Somers Public Schools (the "District") for a five (5) year contract beginning on July 1, 2027 and terminating June 30, 2032. The Board is requesting bids for the provision of a range of student transportation services including, but not limited to: public home-to-school (both in and out of town to Rockville Vo-Ag, Cheney Tech and AI Prince Tech), identified in-town special education, preschool transportation, summer (extended school year) transportation, and extra-curricular services including field and sports trips (excluding certain services). NOTE: The Board is not requesting bids for out-of-district special education transportation services. Bid documents for transportation services for the Somers Board of Education for the 2027-28 through 2031-32 school years are available at 9:00 a.m. on October 30, 2026. If a printed version is required please contact the Business Office at (860) 749-2270 and one will be printed for pickup. The successful Bidder shall execute a Contract substantially in the Form of Contract included with the Bid Documents. The Contract term shall be five (5) years commencing July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2032. The Invitation to Bid describes required scope, equipment requirements (including GPS/AVL, Child Check Mate system, and on-board cameras with audio), insurance requirements, personnel and driver qualifications, routes and scheduling obligations, invoicing and payment methodology, fuel provisions, recordkeeping and audit rights, liquidated damages and termination provisions, and other contractual terms. Bidders are responsible for route inspections and reviewing all existing conditions. The Board reserves the right to amend or withdraw the Invitation to Bid, to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive informalities or non-material deficiencies, and to make award determinations in the best interest of the District.
