Consultants on the available technology to detect subsurface voids created by abandoned underground coal mines. The objectives are to: Map and provide geospatial data for two potential road corridors (one east-west and one north-south) across a 160-acre tract of rangeland that has been largely undermined and exhibits uneven ground from past subsidence. The purpose is to identify shallow, upward-migrating voids that pose a threat to personnel and equipment. Specifically, voids located less than 10 feet below the surface must be mapped. The primary goals are to: locate shallow voids where collapse is imminent, delineate avoidance zones; and identify safe corridors for vehicle travel during sinkhole filling operations. See attached file.
