The project consists of constructing a swine barn of approx 5,500 SF. The barn will house 20 sows and up to two boars in the breeding and gestation space. The farrowing space will accommodate 10 sows with their litter of piglets of 10 to 15 per sow. The two nurseries can accommodate up to 150 piglets in each room. The farm will move pigs between this new facility to the existing facilities. Underneath the breeding and gestation room and under the farrowing room is a cast-in place concrete manure pit approximately 8-feet deep for storage. The breeding and gestation floor over the deep pit is precast concrete plank (hog slat) consisting of solid and slotted planks. The farrowing room floor is a combination of solid precast plank at the walkways and woven welded galvanized steel panels. The project includes all the swine equipment including feed silos, feed auger system, feeders, waterers, penning and gates. The project includes site work, a water lateral off the existing underground well water system, a septic holding tank for domestic sanitary waste and a LP gas tank for heat and hot water.
