Inheritance Tax Counsel RFP

Description: Seeking one or more law firms from throughout the commonwealth to handle various inheritance tax matters at the county level. This may include: responding to filings and filing them by the appropriate deadline, negotiating settlement agreements with counsel; appearing in court on behalf of the commonwealth; and litigating matters in court. Examples of issues that may arise include but are not limited to: disputes over valuation of real property; declarations of marriage and/or assertions of common law marriage; failure to file inheritance tax returns; failure to pay inheritance tax due; validity of wills; and distribution of assets and the resulting taxability.
