Summary
The City of Santa Clara's Public Works Department issued RFP 25-26-11 (re-advertised) seeking proposals from qualified firms to design and renovate the Fire Training Tower, which has been in continuous use for nearly 30 years. A 2022 condition assessment identified deterioration including corrosion and damage to interior stair systems, concrete cracking and spalling, degradation of fire-resistant materials in burn rooms, electrical exposure issues, drainage deficiencies, and potential building code and seismic vulnerabilities. The selected consultant will evaluate the current site, perform hazard sampling and testing, and develop design documents based on the prior assessment's recommendations, with the project funded through Measure I, a voter-approved general obligation bond.
