Summary
The goal of this solicitation is to support small businesses in successful transitioning existing rigorously evaluated evidence-based innovations that were originally created by academic and non-profit researchers into scalable, sustainable education technology products. Barriers to wide-scale replication, adoption, and sustainability of researcher-developed and evidence-based innovations in education are well documented and include lack of: (a) access to the needed technology infrastructure for scalable deployment, (b) feasibility to implement at scale, appropriate market-fit, and (c) researchers’ capacity to commercialize the innovation. Examples may include: Technology-based innovations that were built on outdated or obsolete back-end software systems, Innovations that rely on one-on-one researcher-delivered trainings, professional development, or coaching, making implementation at scale challenging, or; Older innovations that lack sufficient current product-market fit with respect to interface or delivery system.
