The fiber tie-in project (C2430003) includes installing a continuous 48-count single-mode fiber optic circuit between Chugach Structure 22-6 to Bird Point Repeater and between Bird Point Repeater to Chugach structure 22-8 to support system operations with end-to-end testing between Indian Substation and the Repeater and between the Repeater and Chugach structure 22-8. The installation includes both aerial and underground 48-count fiber, associated conduit, handholes, risers, and splice enclosures along the existing distribution corridor. Aerial fiber shall be ADSS, installed on existing and new poles with proper sag, tension, vibration dampers, storage loops, and down-lead clamps. Underground fiber shall be Corning 48-count in 2" HDPE conduit installed by trenching or directional drilling, with spare ducts, pull tape, plugs, and vault sealing. Conduit splicing is not permitted except by butt-fusion. Terminate and splice at designated enclosures (Chugach structure 22-6, BCC Module(W), BCC Module(N) and Chugach structure 22-8). Perform end-to-end OTDR and light-level testing for constructed work, as well as between Indian Substation and Chugach structure 22-8; repair and retest any deficiencies at no additional cost for the fiber installed only. The distribution work order (E2414297) will be replacing 16 distribution poles and approx. 3,600' of overhead primary conductor to make clearance for communication. Re-working of Alaska Communications’ (ACS) existing telecommunication facilities along the project route is also required, and separate design drawings have been provided for that scope.
