Work includes, but is not limited to the following: furnish and install a new backflow preventer at the base of the wet pipe system; remove existing pendant fire sprinkler heads and drops throughout the open-ceiling with rotating existing pipe upward for new tees and sprinkler heads. Disconnect and cap the 2-inch fire sprinkler line through the wall for the adjacent building that is being demolished. Classrooms and restrooms will need the fire sprinkler heads replaced and fitted for new grid/sheetrock ceilings. See outside link.

This project includes the design and provision to replace portions of the existing fire sprinkler system in Windom Elementary School. The project includes the demolition of portions of the existing system. The building shall be fully sprinklered at the completion of the project. Windom Elementary School is currently protected with an existing dry sprinkler system that provides protection for both the Level 2 conditioned spaces as well as the combustible attic spaces above. The purpose of this project is to separate the existing dry system into two separate systems, a wet sprinkler system to protect the Level 2 conditioned spaces and a dry sprinkler system for the combustible attic spaces. This project includes the modification of the existing sprinkler riser manifold in 04A Sprinkler Room on the ground level, the provision of a new Nitrogen Generator, and provision of a new FDC check valve. All new electrical and fire alarm connections are to be provided and tied into the existing fire alarm and building systems.
