The mission of the TDD comprises critical technology discovery and development programs, to include the development, maturation, demonstration and transition of critical technologies and products through technology programs and customer support for Future Vertical Lift (FVL), Air and Missile Defense, and Long-Range Precision Fires. Specifically, the mission of FVL programs is to modernize, maintain and sustain Army Aviation as the dominant land force aviation component in the world. The missions of the Missile Defense and Long-Range Precision Fires programs are to modernize, maintain and sustain Army Missile Technologies as a dominant component of the land force's precision strike, close combat, and air defense capabilities. This mission comprises critical technology discovery and development programs, to include Long-Range Precision Fires (LRPF) and hypersonic missiles, advanced launchers for Fires and Air Defense, close combat systems, and air defense systems including missiles, radars and fire control/mission planning, and also counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) capabilities, that enable the Army to counter and defeat increasingly sophisticated threats in multi-domain operations. TDD accomplishes its mission by: Providing DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center with resources and capabilities to support; Army future Research and Development (R&D) Portfolio requirements. The Army Contracting Command (ACC) / Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) soliciting research and development for Aviation and Missile technologies across areas including Future Vertical Lift, Air and Missile Defense, hypersonics, and counter-UAS.
