The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) issued a Sources Sought notice (140G0226Q0009) to perform a market survey for acoustic telemetry collars compatible with 69 kHz VEMCO receivers for use in the Great Lakes; this is explicitly a sources-sought/market survey, not a solicitation. The notice lists technical requirements including 69 kHz transmission, sub-meter positioning compatibility, maximum dimensions (≤9 mm diameter, ≤27.5 mm length), weight <5 g, battery life ≥730 days, and operation to depths up to 500 m. The posting was published 2026-01-12 (EST) with responses requested by 2026-01-23 19:00 EST; it is not a grant and was open as of 2026-01-13.
