Labor Counsel (Personnel) will render legal and advisory services in the field of personnel administration, employer-employee relations and other related matters in those fields. In matters assigned to Labor Counsel (Personnel), services shall include, but shall not necessarily be limited to, the furnishing of advice, guidance and consultation pertaining to the fields of personnel administration and employer-employee relations. Labor Counsel (Personnel) when assigned to a matter will confer with City Officials regarding representation in proceedings, existing contractual arrangements, representation during mediation, fact-finding or arbitration, if required, grievance handling and such other matters pertaining to labor or labor relations as may be requested by the City from time to time.

Township labor counsel. The position of Labor Counsel is not defined within the Township Code of the Township and cannot therefore be recited here. Nevertheless, such Labor Counsel should pursue those obligations and duties that relate to representing the Township in connection with personnel matters and labor contract negotiations.

Township labor counsel: Labor Counsel must be licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey and appear before all state and federal courts and administrative offices of the State of New Jersey for a period of not less than ten (10) years. Counsel shall have at least ten (10) years’ experience as a municipal labor attorney. Applicant shall have demonstrated knowledge of and experience with collective bargaining, PERC arbitration and mediation, ADA, FMLA and NJ FLMA. Applicant must be licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey and be a member of the bar in good standing and must maintain a bona fide office in the State of New Jersey.
