The Summer Leadership Academy is designed to provide practical, budget-friendly training for school boards and district leaders. It offers a focused way to build practical skills over two in-person sessions, shaped by school directors, with tools attendees can use right away. The 2026 academy includes sessions such as 'Deciphering the District Budget' with Cassandra Sage & Dr. Heather Curl, 'Advancing Inclusion through Belonging' with Luckisha Phillips & Rassamy Smith, 'Serving as a Board Chair' with Patty Wood, and 'Discovering Educational Disparities' with Mary Fertakis & Vanessa Medalla. Both equity trainings (Advancing Inclusion through Belonging and Discovering Educational Disparities) count toward the state professional development requirement on educational equity for school board members.
