School Resource Officer Training Conference

The School Resource Officer Training Conference, presented by the National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC) of Fox Valley Technical College, focuses on critical issues impacting the safety of schools, youth, and communities. Conference sessions highlight best practices, lessons learned from relevant case studies, and current or emerging trends in addressing school violence through crime prevention and response strategies. Attendees will learn to identify effective strategies to reduce the potential for crime and violence in schools, examine best practices and lessons learned in response to critical incidents, explore relevant case studies related to school safety and security, discover current trends related to at-risk youth, and consider planning and preparation for critical incident response. The event also addresses the impacts of trauma on youth and effective strategies for working with students experiencing mental illness and learning disabilities, and explores current trends among youth relating to social media and alcohol and substance abuse, discussing successful prevention and intervention program models.
