SafeFutures 2027 Conference

SafeFutures 2027 is an international Conference on Evidence-Based Injury Prevention, Safety Promotion, and Trauma Care, hosted by the UCI Department of Emergency Medicine and the Center for Trauma and Injury Prevention Research (CTIPR). The conference will convene national and international leaders committed to reducing injuries and improving trauma care and outcomes. Guided by the theme "Towards Zero Fatal Injuries," SafeFutures 2027 will address the full injury continuum, from policy and prevention to response, mitigation, and clinical care. Day 1 focuses on policy, public health, and primary prevention, including road traffic injury prevention, falls and drowning prevention, occupational safety, injury surveillance, product safety, and evidence-to-policy translation. Days 2 and 3 transition towards secondary prevention and mitigation, covering topics such as safety equipment, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), community response, EMS and prehospital care, Tele-EMS, transport systems, coordinated field operations. Day 3 is primarily clinician-oriented, with emphasis on emergency department and in-hospital trauma care, imaging and diagnostic stewardship, geriatric and pediatric trauma pathways, traumatic brain injury management, multidisciplinary care, quality improvement, and recovery after injury. The conference provides a forum for public health researchers, clinicians, EMS professionals, policymakers, community partners, and trainees to connect, share evidence, and advance practical strategies for safer communities.
