About this conference

The Public Interest Environmental Law Conference (PIELC) is the oldest and largest public interest environmental law conference in the world, historically uniting thousands of activists, attorneys, students, scientists, and concerned citizens from over 50 countries. Hosted by Land Air Water, a student environmental law society at the University of Oregon School of Law, this four-day conference addresses a broad spectrum of environmental law and advocacy. Topics include forest protection, ecological restoration, labor and human rights, air and water pollution, Native American treaty rights, globalization, environmental justice, corporate responsibility, marine wilderness, international environmental law, water rights, dam removal, oil and gas litigation, genetic engineering, and urban growth. The conference aims to share information and strategies to further environmental and social justice goals, inspiring renewed commitment to environmental protection. It also features keynote presentations from preeminent activists, scientists, politicians, philosophers, and authors. PIELC is free and open to the public.
