Urban Librarians Unite

The Urban Librarians Conference, themed 'Still Standing', is a one-day, community-driven gathering created by and for frontline library workers in urban settings. It’s a space where library staff from across the country come together to share experiences, spark ideas, and support each other through the challenges and triumphs of public service. The conference centers the voice and work of library staff, whether at the reference desk, running programs, managing chaos, or advocating for their branch. It is a vibrant, grassroots event focused on practical tools, real talk, and mutual care, with sessions led by fellow library workers who understand the realities of serving diverse, dynamic, and often underserved communities. With a focus on equity, trauma-informed practice, and creative problem-solving, the conference offers a rare opportunity to build solidarity, find inspiration, and provide actionable ideas. The 'Still Standing' theme focuses on the endurance, grit, creativity, and stubbornness that defines urban library workers in the face of budget cuts, program challenges, and other adversities, inviting participants to share their stories, strategies, and lessons learned from 'staying in this work for the long haul'.
