Association of State Drinking Water Administrators

The Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA) is the professional association representing state drinking water program administrators; it was formed in 1984 to provide national representation for state primacy agents. ASDWA collects data, conducts analysis, and provides policy recommendations and technical assistance to educate decision-makers on states’ perspectives about drinking water issues, and it publishes reports and convenes stakeholders on topics such as lead, PFAS, and state funding. Recent site content includes reports on Congressionally Directed Spending’s impacts on state drinking water programs, coverage of EPA funding announcements, and a 2025 in‑memoriam for ASDWA co‑founder Gayle Smith.
