Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE)

The Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) is a long-established professional membership organization (founded 1915) serving facilities management and engineering professionals across building types. AFE organizes national conferences and events for facilities professionals—most notably the multi-day national event branded “AFE Forward” (annual/periodic leadership and technical conference) and numerous chapter-level events, facility tours, and webinars. AFE’s event programming covers facility operations, maintenance, engineering, controls, and related topics relevant to school facilities, building operations, maintenance, and security systems. While AFE is not exclusively a K–12 school-focused organizer, its conferences and an “Academic Facilities” Professional Interest Committee indicate direct relevance to school facilities and building operations professionals.
