The New Presidents Academy (NPA) is a comprehensive leadership development program designed for first-time presidents and chancellors of state colleges and universities. It provides robust preparation for the specific challenges and critical concerns faced by leaders in higher education, fostering a strong and supportive network among new and seasoned presidents. The program aims to strengthen leadership skills, facilitate assessment and reflection on leadership strengths, define areas for growth, and engage participants in mentoring partnerships. Key session topics include crisis management, student-centered leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, advocacy, government relations, building and engaging leadership teams, and financial management. The program includes a four-day in-person gathering, monthly interactive virtual cohort sessions, and a half-day in-person gathering in conjunction with AASCU's Annual Conference.
