Native American Education Conference

The Native American Education Conference, organized by the Wyoming Department of Education, is an annual event focused on fostering a holistic approach to Native American education. The 2026 conference, themed "Walking Together: Forging a Collective Path through Indigenous Knowledge," aims to assist educators of tribal youth, instill pride, and strengthen the engagement of Native youth. It is open to all individuals interested in learning about Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone cultures, best classroom practices, and activities that support all students. The agenda includes keynote addresses by distinguished Indigenous educators such as Rose Ann Abrahamson and Jason Cummins. Workshop topics will cover understanding Native American history and culture, implementing classroom techniques to enhance Native student achievement, addressing students' well-being, and inspiring youth leadership and empowerment. The conference will also feature screenings of films like "Generation Warrior" and "Before Wyoming: The West in 1776," and will host the annual Pacesetter Awards to honor top Native American youth across the state. Attendees can receive 0.5 PTSB credit for full participation. The event is free to attend.
